Karate Programs

Karate, a martial art, promotes physical fitness and gives improved coordination. It builds confidence and self esteem. The program includes conditioning exercises for stamina and strength. Karate promotes discipline and mental focus and is a fun activity for the whole family.  Open to students ages 5 and older, teens and adults. At the B-B Elementary School Gym and Cafetorium. Supervised and instructed by Hanshi Cyndy Jones. Class times are listed below:

 

 

 

 

 

 


Adult Fitness Programs

dscn1996Our adult fitness programs are available for anyone over the age of 18. Our programs are always changing and improving,  please check out our newsletter for our latest offering. Listed below are the current fitness programs that are being offered.

  • Tuesday and Thursday Mixed Yoga – Yoga is designed to increase flexibility, build strength, and melt away tension. Yoga is a great way to exercise, linking breathing with movement. All ages & levels of experience and fitness welcome. Certified Instructor: Kathy Merritt, RYTl.
  • Kidding Around Yoga – Kidding Around Yoga specializes in sharing yoga and meditation with children ages 3-12. This class uses its own music, games, as well as other tools and activities to help children focus their minds and stretch their bodies, all while having loads of fun. Yoga and meditation has been considered, for a long time, as a wonderful means of stress management. This class uses a system based on the classical study of yoga and transforms it into an experience for children to both introduce them to yoga as well as inspire them to develop a practice and give them tools to take into adulthood.   • Indoor Cycling – WHY CYCLING?? You will define and lean out your legs. Go at your own pace so beginners are welcome. It’s indoors so you can go all year round. It’s weather proof so no excuses! And the icing on cake? You will enhance your cardiovascular fitness and burn a large amount of calories in one class. Weak joints? No problem, these classes are low impact!

Youth Recreation

Youth Recreation has always been important to Gillam-Grant.  Getting out and enjoying a friendly sport with friends is important for youth development. Recreation is a great way for youth to gain the experience of working on a team. Registration going forward will be part of our online registration system. Below is a typical offering of our leagues

Summer Co-Ed Youth Soccer League (Non-Traveling)

Looking for a fun time? Youth soccer not only helps with a player’s skills and player development but also assists players through team building. So it does not matter if your child has a lot of experience or none at all, the youth soccer league has a spot in the program for them.   Multiple divisions are available for your player based on skill and age. Divisions are available for ages 3 to 10.  All divisions start in May.  Divisions include:

  • 4 Years Old – Little Kickers
    Is open to ages 3 & 4. Appropriate for children that have turned 3 years of age by April 1 of the current year and will not turn 5 before April 1. Little Kickers practices will take place on Tuesday and Thursdays
  • 6 & Under Division
    This program is open to ages 4, 5, and 6.  Players must be 4 by December 1 of the past year & not 7 before August 1 of the current year. Practices will take place on Mondays and Wednesdays.
  • 8 & Under Division
    This program is open to ages 7 and 8. Players must not be 9 by August 1 of the current year.  Practices will take place on Mondays and Wednesdays.
  • 10 & Under Division
    This program is open to ages 9 and 10. Players must not be 11 by August 1 of the current year. Practices will take place for Girls on Tuesdays & Thursdays and for Boys on Mondays & Wednesdays.

Summer Youth Baseball League
Our youth baseball program provides opportunities for all ages to participate in one of America’s favorite past times.  There are several divisions available for ages 4 to 12. Practices start in May. Those divisions include:

  • T-Ball:  ages 4 to 6 (must be 4 by November 30 of the previous year)
    Practices will take place on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays
  • T-Shirt:  ages 7 & 8 (must be 7 by May 1 of the current year)
    Practices will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays
  • Little League Minors: ages 9 & 10 (Must be 9 by May 1 of the current year)
    Practices will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays
  • Little League Majors: ages 11 & 12 (Must be 11 by May 1 of the current year)
    Practices will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays

Summer Youth Softball League
Our youth softball program is open to all children between the ages of 7 and 18.  The divisions that we offer include:

  • Youth Softball:  ages 7 to 9 (Must not be 10 by July 1 of the current year)
  • Youth Softball:  ages 10 to 12 (Must not be 13 by July 1 of the current year)
  • Jr./Sr. Softball:  ages 13 to 15 (Must not be 16 by July 1 of current year)
  • JV/Varsity Softball:  ages 16 to 18 (Must not be 19 by July 1 of current year)

Winter Youth Basketball League
This league is open to boys and girls between the grades 3 to 8, with dates and times to be determined by individual coaches. The divisions that we have available include:

  • 3rd & 4th grade
  • 5th grade
  • 6th grade
  • 7th & 8th grade   (Boy’s Fall League)

Byron-Bergen Sting Travel Soccer Team
Travel soccer teams for boys and girls ages 8 and above.
